In 1958, the Dave Brubeck Quartet toured England for the first time. Forty years later, Dave and his current quartet return triumphantly with new material to recreate some of the old tunes from that legendary first trip across the Atlantic. The 40th Anniversary Tour of the U.K. documents that high-octane adventure.

Feel the enthusiasm of the audience as Brubeck begins with a disguised intro to "Someday My Prince Will Come" then recharges the tune a la 1958. Never cliche, its obvious why audiences still want to hear Dave Brubeck perform his classic songs.

Known for his trademark rhythmic complexity and extraordinary ability to improvise, Brubeck is also a leading American composer and one of the very few since George Gershwin to receive true distinction in jazz and classical music. Here he includes an inspired performance of "I Got Rhythm," an all-time Gershwin favorite.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet has clearly honed its reactions through extensive touring as showcased by their responsiveness on this recording. Brits Alec Dankworth on bass and Randy Jones on drums provide a strong foundation, while the stunning alto saxophonist Bobby Militello is a virtuoso capable of delivering the late Paul Desmond's airy tone and fluid attack. Captured in spectacular DSD sound, this concert experience is brought to life more vividly than ever before.
