This is the fifth release in Telarc's ongoing series of essential jazz listening for the '90's, with special packaging and exceptional pricing. The set features three complete CDs by the legendary André Previn, famed throughout the world not only as an acclaimed classical composer and conductor, but as a superb jazz musician. The first of these three albums, After Hours, made with Joe Pass and Ray Brown, was Previn's first traditional jazz album in twenty-seven years. The second and third recordings, Old Friends, and Uptown, feature Previn, Brown, and guitarist Mundell Lowe. Old Friends has a mix of classic tunes like "Over the Rainbow" and "Sweet Georgia Brown," while Uptown swings through the songs of Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington and others.
