Since his arrival on the music scene with the late Cal Tjader, Poncho Sanchez has displayed for all to see, his marvelous gifts of not only understanding the history of both Latin and jazz music, but performing it with the brilliance of a master conguero.
Finding the proper comination of musicians and material has always been the prerequisite for Poncho Sanchez, and his wise decisions as a band leader have contributed to his great success in a very competitive business.
This Poncho Sanchez release celebrates the wonderful collaboration of distinctive Latin jazz music, augmented by the great trumpet player Freddie Hubbard's contribution on three of the selections.
