Telarc's highly regarded Mozart opera series continues with the release of The Marriage of Figaro. Figaro is the epitome of Italian eighteenth-century opera buffa, with its lively and amusing libretto, beautiful arias and masterly ensembles.
Through Mozart’s genius for characterization in music, he transforms this opera buffa into a profound human comedy in which the characters are real and convincing people.
As the other operas in this series, Telarc returned to the Edinburgh Festival to record another stunning Mackerras interpretation of Mozart. This Figaro follows the tremendously successful Magic Flute and Cosi fan tutte. The Cosi fan tutte was nominated for a Grammy Award for the Best Engineered Classical Recording. The Marriage of Figaro was recorded using 20-bit technology.
