Coop! The Music Of Bob Cooper
Bob Cooper
Bob Cooper (1925-1993) and his tenor saxophone were a part of the Los Angeles jazz world for more than four decades. He was only 19 when he joined Stan Kenton in 1945; later he was a key figure in the Lighthouse All-Stars, leader of various recording groups, and a composer of unusual talent. The "Jazz Theme and Four Variations" occupying the first side with a brass section augmenting the personnel, is one of his most successful works. The presence of the magnificent Frank Rosolino on trombone, and of the vibraphonist Victor Feldman, were valuable components backing up Cooper's Lester Young-inspired horn.
with Frank Rosolino, Johnny Halliburton, Pete Candoli, Don Fagerquist, Conte Candoli, Victor Feldman, Lou Levy, Max Bennett, Mel Lewis
