Taking Care Of Business
Oliver Nelson
Oliver Nelson had a presence on the alto and the tenor saxophones, a deep blue sound that, while thoroughly modern, conveyed the size of the classic stylists. At the start of his recording career, before his writing came to the fore, he made a great impression as a player on several Prestige/New Jazz dates. Taking Care of Business, his second, lets him stretch out on both horns in an unusual quintet that features two talented labelmates, vibraphonist Lem Winchester and organist Johnny "Hammond" Smith.
with Lem Winchester, Johnny "Hammond" Smith, George Tucker, Roy Haynes
