One unusual fact about Chet Baker's six-album association with the Riverside/Jazzland organization in the late Fifties and early Sixties is that it never involved a formal contractual relationship. This is offered, not as a lesson in record-business legalisms, but as an indication of the ever-present conflict between the trumpeter/singer's undeniable talents and his severe dependency problems, which made him a potentially valuable but demanding and difficult person to deal with. This had led Pacific Jazz (to whom he was under contract) to "lend" him to Riverside for four records, after which he made two (during a tour of Italy) that were acquired for Jazzland. This is the second of those: a richly relaxed group of standards (half with vocals) played against a full-sounding strings background.

I Should Care, The Song Is You, Goodbye, Angel Eyes, Forgetful, Violets for Your Furs, When I Fall in Love, Autumn in New York, Street of Dreams, Deep in a Dream

accompanied by string orchestra
