Here and There presents Eric Dolphy on all three of his instruments, characteristically trying to get them to do things they were not designed to do; and sometimes succeeding. Dolphy works in three settings. One is the quintet that became famous at the Five Spot in New York and forever linked his name with that of Booker Little. Another is a quartet with inventive Jaki Byard at the piano. Dolphy is also heard with a group of Scandinavian musicians in Copenhagen. Finally, he plays in no setting, that is without accompaniment, in a bass clarinet exploration of the possibilities in Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child."
