Monterey Concerts
Cal Tjader
The Monterey Festivals have been a basic annual part of the jazz scene for so many years that it isn’t easy to recall that way back in 1958 they got off to a rocky, money-losing start. Then came this “preview” concert by Tjader prior to the ’59 Festival; it was hugely successful, and another permanent jazz institution was launched! This package presents the historic concert in its entirety.
with Paul Horn, Lonnie Hewitt, Al McKibbon, Willie Bobo, Mongo Santamaria
