For once, album-title hyperbole is understatement. Here are three of the four tunes recorded at the legendary December 1954 gathering of Miles Davis, Milt Jackson, Thelonious Monk, Percy Heath, and Kenny Clarke. "The Man I Love" is heard in two exceptional and different takes, Monk reprises "Bemsha Swing" from his Prestige trio sessions, and Davis makes one of his earliest statements in the realm of scales and modes with "Swing Spring." Completing the program, the classic 1956 Miles Davis Quintet performs a signature arrangement that was among the first to announce the arrival of John Coltrane, "'Round Midnight."

with John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones, Milt Jackson, Thelonious Monk, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke
