This, the Tennessee soul man’s debut album, finds him singing and playing piano, accompanied only by bassist Duck Dunn and drummer Al Jackson, Jr., at an impromptu session followed a company party. It’s the type of intimate, champagne-sipping affair you'd expect if Hayes came over to your house, placed a candelabrum atop the grand piano, and proceeded to serenade you and your lover for nearly an hour. Included is a previously unissued, nineteen-minute version of the Hayes song “Precious, Precious.”
