Jay Hoggard, one of the few jazz musicians of his generation to become a vibraharpist, is an eclectic. Into his Rain Forest he brings jazz, samba, and touches of rock, gospel, and soul. Hoggard is accompanied on his semi-tropical excursion by a crew equally capable of variety. Chico Freeman, Kenny Kirkland, and Harvey Mason are among the participants. Paulinho da Costa brings along some of his 200 percussion instruments. John Koenig is aboard with his cello and guitar. There's even a vocal trio with intimations of Motown and Sunday morning services. The mixture yields a happy result.
