At the time (1956-57) Sonny Rollins played with the Max Roach Quintet (first with Clifford Brown and then Kenny Dorham alongside in the front line), he made several classic albums for Prestige with Roach and others from the group. Bassist George Morrow was on all of them. Here the pianist is Wade Legge and the trumpeter, Dorham. This fitting tribute to Charlie Parker takes the form of a medley of seven standards associated with Bird. There is also a lilting Rollins waltz, "Kids Know," as well as a balladic exploration of "I've Grown Accustomed to Your Face."
