Lee Rupe, ex-wife of Specialty Records' Art Rupe, had her finger on the pulse of R&B vocal group activity during the late Fifties. She captured some of the cream of the Southern California doo-wop scene for her short-lived Ebb label and scored a major R&B and pop hit in late 1957 with "Buzz-Buzz-Buzz" by the Hollywood Flames featuring Earl Nelson (later of Bob and Earl). That unforgettable platter is contained in this compelling collection, along with rare sides by numerous other fine harmonizers of the period.
