Albert "Sunnyland Slim" Luandrew has been a mainstay of the Chicago blues scene for over five decades, having lent his down-home piano touch, honed in the turpentine camps of his native Mississippi, to countless sessions by the likes of Doctor Clayton, Tampa Red, and Muddy Waters. It might have seemed like an odd idea when producer Esmond Edwards chose to team Slim with a combo of New York r&b studio stalwarts, including the great King Curtis, for his debut album. The result, however, was incendiary, with Slim shouting and pumping the blues with unfettered passion. Included in this compact disc are two never-before-issued bonus tracks.
