Twenty-eight year old pianist Michael Chertock has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and in recital throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada. As a concerto soloist, he has appeared with the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras, the National Arts Orchestra of Canada, the Naples Philharmonic, and the Ravinia Festival Orchestra.
Chertock has selected for this recording a collection of themes and incidental music from both recent and past Oscar-winning movies, as well as hit Broadway tunes and themes from award-winning television shows. Movie themes featured include those from "The English Patient," " Forrest Gump," "Shine," "The Bridges of Madison County," "Unforgiven," (with the theme actually written by Clint Eastwood), and "Il Postino".
Music from the popular television show "The X-Files" is included, as well as themes from the PBS series "The Civil War." Broadway is represented with Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" from Evita.
