Jazz comes in many forms and variations but none is more solidly rooted and enduring than the organ-trio tradition that stands right on the borderline of black popular "bar music." (Riverside producer Orrin Keepnews has noted that he worked regularly with only two performers who came out of this idiom: one was the incredible Wes Montgomery; the other was Johnny Lytle.) Of vibraphonist Lytle's several swinging and blues-imbued albums for Riverside and the companion Jazzland label, this last one is probably best remembered, having been built around the hypnotic title selection, which had previously been released as a widely successful single.

with Milt Harris, Bob Cranshaw, William "Peppy" Hinnant, Willie Rodriguez
