Trumpet Spectacular
Erich Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Doc Severinsen
Trumpet Spectacular is a memorable tour through the trumpet repertoire by one of the most gifted and eclectic musicians working today. The recording includes such demanding warhorses as Bellstedt’s arrangement of Napoli, Rimsky-Korsakov’s ingeniously descriptive Flight of the Bumblebee, and Del Staiger’s arrangement of Carnival of Venice.
Severinsen also explores the world of opera with a reworking (by composer and Cincinnati Pops bassist Frank Proto) of themes from Bizet’s timeless Carmen, a medley of well-known Puccini arias including Nessun dorma!, and the aria Largo al factotum from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.
This recording will appeal to a wide range of listeners, from classical music fans to trumpet aficionados to opera lovers to viewers of The Tonight Show to admirers of Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.
