ABOUT CANNONBALL ADDERLEY QUINTET

The time was right for the Cannonball Adderley Quintet in 1959. The alto saxophonist had completed two years with Miles Davis and recorded three successful albums for Riverside when he reconvened brother Nat Adderley and fellow Floridian Sam Jones from an earlier Adderley group. The new Adderley quintet quickly became beloved of listeners in clubs across the country. Nowhere was it more enthusiastically received than at the Jazz Workshop in San Francisco.
