Still Running

The release of Wings' Band On The Run in 1973 was the moment when Sir Paul McCartney put the world on notice that there was life after the Beatles, and that he would continue to be a powerful voice in the '70s and beyond. This year, Hear Music reissued Band On The Run in multiple formats (all of which are available as part of Concord's holiday gift promotion) for everyone from the casual McCartney fan to the serious collector.

The Standard Edition includes the original nine-track album, remastered at Abbey Road Studios in London. The packaging includes a redesigned booklet and lyrics to all songs. This edition also includes a digital download of nine tracks as premium DRM-Free 320KBps MP3s

The 3-disc Special Edition includes the original 9-track album, plus 9 bonus audio tracks, including the hit single "Helen Wheels." It also includes music videos, rare footage of the McCartneys in Lagos, a behind-the-scenes look at the album cover shoot, and the 1974 One Hand Clapping television documentary featuring studio performances at Abbey Road. The Special Edition packaging includes additional photos and new liner notes, and all audio and video is available in digital download.

The 4-disc Deluxe Edition includes the same 18 audio tracks and DVD available in the Special Edition, plus a 120-page book with previously unpublished images by Linda McCartney and Clive Arrowsmith, album and single artwork, and a full history of the album with track-by-track annotation and a new interview with McCartney.

Or if you're looking for something closer to the original vinyl experience of the '70s, you can get the remastered original 9 tracks plus the 9 bonus tracks on a 2-disc, 180-gram audiophile vinyl set in a gatefold package with the original accompanying poster. Digital download of all 18 tracks is also available with the Vinyl Edition.

Band On The Run, a watershed moment in 20th century pop music, only gets better with enhancements from 21st century technology. Pick your format, climb on back and go for a ride in the sky.
