CAROLE KING & JAMES TAYLOR’S LIVE AT THE TROUBADOUR IS CERTIFIED GOLD
Legendary Duo’s 2-Disc CD/DVD Reaches Sales Milestone With Sales Over 500,000
September 20, 2010 - In just 20 short weeks since its release May 4th 2010, Carole King and James Taylor’s 2-discCD/DVD Live at the Troubadour, (Hear Music/Concord Music Group) has been certified GOLD by the R.I.A.A. having sold over 500,000 units. The collection debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Top 200, selling over 77,000 copies in its first week and has spent an impressive 5 weeks in the Top 10 and an additional 12 weeks in the Top 20. Recorded in November of 2007, Live at the Troubadour captures Taylor and King’s, as well as their renowned original band (guitarist Danny Kortchmar, bassist Leland Sklar and drummer Russell Kunkel) historic reunion to mark the revered nightclub’s 50th anniversary - the sight of the duo’s first and now legendary early 70’s performances. The CD/DVD features hits and fan favorites including King’s “So Far Away,” “It’s Too Late,” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?” as well as Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind,” “Sweet Baby James,” and “Fire And Rain,” to name just a few.
This extraordinary project has been supported by Carole King-James Taylor: Live At The Troubadour, a PBS national pledge program that continues to air across the country (check local listings) and King and Taylor’s recently completed smash Troubadour Reunion tour, one of the most lauded and successful musical events of the year. Critics have overwhelmingly praised the tour which has seen the iconic duo play to more than 700,000 people.
Live At The Troubadour is Carole King’s first certified GOLD record since her 2001 Greatest Hits collection (certified Platinum) and James Taylor’s first since GOLD disc 2007’s One Man Band.

In 1987, King and Gerry Goffin were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and honored with their Lifetime Achievement Award in 1988. Goffin and King, as songwriters, were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and were honored by The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2004 with the GRAMMY® Trustees’ Award. To date, more than 400 Carole King compositions have been recorded by more than 1000 artists, resulting in more than 100 hit singles - many reaching #1.
