Dave Brubeck Receives Lifetime Achievement Honour At The Seventh Annual BBC Jazz Awards
Jazz pianist Dave Brubeck has received a lifetime achievement honour at the seventh annual BBC Jazz awards.
The Grammy Award winner is best known for producing Take Five with saxophonist Paul Desmond.
Other winners included Curtis Stigers, who was named jazz artist of the year, while singer Madeleine Peyroux won best international artist.
The life and work of jazz performer George Melly, who died last week, were also celebrated during the show.
Paul Gambaccini hosted the event at the Mermaid Theatre in London.
Highlights of the event will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3's Jazz Line-Up on Saturday and BBC Radio 2 on Monday.
Guitarist Martin Taylor, flautist and saxophone player Finn Peters and The Neil Cowley Trio were among the other artists to pick up trophies.
