Nikka Costa Takes New Album On The Road This Fall!
This fall Nikka Costa will bring her incredible forthcoming album, Pebble to a Pearl, on the road for an extensive US tour. Set for release on October 14th via the legendary Stax Records and produced by Justin Stanley, the album sees Nikka hit her stride in the ageless spirit and explosive dynamic of throwback funk and soul. Joining Nikka on the record is a group of outstanding musicians including legendary drummer James Gadson (Al Green, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder), Grammy Award winning songwriter, and keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Al Green), extraordinary guitarists Jason Falkner (Beck, Air, Paul McCartney)and Chris Bruce (George Clinton/Parliament, Me'Shell Ndege'Ocello, Betty Lavette). Early acclaim for the album includes Elle, who say "the songs sparkle and Costa's own big heart consistently comes through."
On the stage, Pebble to a Pearl comes alive with staggering emotion and fiery musical genius. Says Nikka, "I want to get on the bus and just go for it. Playing live is when it all comes together, it's my thing - the part I love the most." The New York Times agrees, calling her "a performer first" and her live show "physical and wrigglingly alive." Nikka has played select performances to preview the record, including an opening set for Seal in Costa Mesa in July where the OC Register proclaimed, "She came across like a young Tina Turner or Chaka Khan, previewing four sizzling tunes from her enticing new album Pebble to a Pearl."
