[November 7, 2007 / New York, NY] Beloved R&B singer Will Downing is back in a big way! In spite of his battle back from the debilitating muscle disorder Polymyositis, Downing's latest release AFTER TONIGHT debuts today at #37 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart as well as #8 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart and is the #1 R&B Core Stores scanning over 21,000 units. In Downing's over 20+ years of recording, this is his best sales debut to date.

This initial acceptance of AFTER TONIGHT in the marketplace represents an artistic victory for the musician and a personal victory for the man. In the face of his health challenges, Downing delivered a work of startling beauty, boldly enriched by his indomitable spirit of determination. In short, Downing used the challenge of his illness to create a project that lays full testament to his artistry, vision and inner resolve, making AFTER TONIGHT a profoundly moving listening experience.

The new album, his first on the Peak Records label and the thirteenth of his career, was a true musical collaboration based on a deep friendship and respect with his longtime producer Rex Rideout. Rideout co-wrote most of the tracks with Downing and laces the project with his jazz-informed skills on keyboards. Each song on AFTER TONIGHT - 8 originals plus 2 top-shelf covers of Bill Withers and Phyllis Hyman chestnuts - is bathed in the glow of lasting romance and spiritual awakening, with Downing's elastic voice flowing fluidly between his baritone, tenor and falsetto ranges. The album deftly demonstrates Downing's signature versatility and impeccably seasoned musicianship.

At this time, Downing's health is on the mend. He is recuperating at home with his wife Audrey Wheeler-Downing and 11 year-old daughter Aja. Will continues his journey on the road to wellness with daily rehabilitation sessions, yet continues to be actively involved in the promoting process of his powerful new project. All in all, Will Downing is determined to be back performing on a stage sometime in 2008. Given the faith affirming and heartwarming fruits of Downing's labors thus far, this is one holiday wish you can believe WILL come true.
