Tift Merritt “Breaks the Stillness” on iTunes
Acclaimed singer-songwriter, Fantasy Records' Tift Merritt is in the midst of an extraordinary year. In February, her widely hailed record "Another Country" debuted to cheers from all corners of the music world. Her third record overall and first for Fantasy Records, "Another Country" was produced by George Drakoulias and features the most personal and poignant songs of her career. She and her crack band have toured steadily since then including stops at both The Late Show with David Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
She also performed as a guest vocalist with Emmylou Harris on the Late Show singing a song from Emmy's new record. In addition, Tift made her debut on the venerable Grand Ole Opry stage in March and Britain's Glastonbury Festival this summer.
On September 16th, Fantasy Records will release an exclusive iTunes digital only 5 song EP entitled "Please Break the Stillness of the Middle of the Night". It features three special, never before heard songs, including the Merritt originals: "Wayward and Weary", "Last To Know" and a rare cover of George Harrison's "I Live for You". The exclusive EP also includes a remixed version of Merritt's "Morning Is My Destination" and an acoustic version of "Tell Me Something True". This special iTunes exclusive is being offered as Tift continues her nation-wide tour that has her winning new fans and thrilling old ones all over the country. Merritt has been compared to some of America's most important songwriters, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris and Joni Mitchell among them. This special digital only EP is yet another step towards fulfilling her incredible promise, don't miss her and her great band at a show near you.
