TWO TIME GRAMMY® WINNER JACOB COLLIER SIGNS PUBLISHING AGREEMENT WITH CONCORD MUSIC

Concord Music today announced the signing of multi-GRAMMY® winning singer, composer, arranger, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier. Dubbed by many as one of the most innovative creative musicians of his generation, the London-based Collier first rose to fame through the viral popularity of his homemade multi-track YouTube videos. Collier's musical style fuses elements of jazz, a cappella, groove, folk, electronic music, classical music, gospel, soul and improvisation, and often features extreme use of re-harmonization. Since his inaugural video in 2011, Jacob’s online social channels have garnered over 500K international followers and more than 18 million YouTube views.

"We are so excited to have Jacob joining the Concord Music Publishing roster. Jacob is an amazing talent with a truly unique approach to songwriting and creating music. We can’t wait to see what Jacob does next,” states Jeremy Yohai, Head of A&R (US) for Concord Music’s publishing business.

Collier recorded, composed, and produced his 2016 debut album, In My Room, solely in his bedroom. The album topped 23 international iTunes Jazz charts, and won him two GRAMMY®s for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals. The album was also well-received critically. NPR premiered it on their First Look program, saying, "Jacob’s warmly humanistic debut In My Room securely positions him as this year’s wunderkind-to-watch.” Billboard simply stated, "Jacob Collier is Blowing Minds.” Quincy Jones, who represents and mentors Collier, said, "I have never in my life seen a talent like this… Beyond category. One of my favorite young artists on the planet – absolutely mind-blowing.”

In addition to his album, Collier collaborated with Ben Bloomberg of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), to design and build a revolutionary one-man live performance vehicle that brings his multi-instrumental, multi-visual format to the stage. It first debuted at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2015, where Collier opened for jazz giants Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. Collier was invited to perform and speak at the 2017 TED Talk conference in Vancouver, to give further insight on the inner workings of his unique production.

Jacob Collier comments on this signing, "I have a huge amount of respect for Concord Music - not only as a bunch of fantastic people, but for having one of the most badass catalogues I’ve ever heard. What an awesome thing to join their roster! I am thrilled to add my sounds to the mix and can’t wait to work with them on projects to come.”

Today, Collier is touring the world with the One-Man-Show, arranging commissioned work for orchestras and bands, teaching Masterclasses, working on creating emotional musical technology, and collaborating internationally with musicians of all shapes and sizes. In 2015, Collier was involved in Beats by Dre’s Rugby World Cup "The Game Starts Here” campaign, for which he arranged and recorded "Jerusalem” as the soundtrack for the commercial. In 2017, Jacob was asked to reinvent Samsung’s "Over the Horizon” theme for the release of the new Samsung Galaxy 8/8S. Most recently, Jacob recorded some music for the score of DreamWorks’ latest animated film, "Boss Baby”, with legendary film composer Hans Zimmer. At Coachella 2017, Jacob performed "Freedom” with Hans Zimmer and Pharrell.
