Voices at Large

The Green Scene

22 APR 08 DAVID VIENNA

For Concord Music Group, Earth Day is a way of life. That whole "Earth Day is every day" thing, we take that seriously. In fact, a large number of our artists are heavy-duty environmental activists.

Because of his ceaseless work for environmental causes, James Taylor was named the 2006 MusiCares Person of the Year. Other veteran musicians such as Joni Mitchell, Paul McCartney, John Fogerty, Marian McPartland and Sonny Rollins also work tirelessly for various green organizations. (Heck, Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" is an environmental anthem and Rollins even has an album named Global Warming.)

But the planet isn't just the passion of the Peace & Love generation. Artists like Tift Merritt, Ozomatli, Sia, David Sánchez and recently-signed Fantasy artists the Gabe Dixon Band all strive to bring environmental issues to the fore, both in their public and private lives.

From exploring environmentally friendly packaging to raising voices in support of pro-Earth causes to the simple act of recycling office waste, Concord Music Group celebrates Earth Day every day. There are simple things you can do to help the planet. Every little bit helps, so give it a shot.
